Speak everyday Khmer with confidence.
KhmerBasics is a simple Khmer learning site and app that helps new learners speak up — fast. Practical flashcards, themed phrase packs, and audio-first lessons recorded by real Khmer speakers.
A taste of what you'll learn.
Real phrases for real moments — every lesson includes the line, the romanization, the meaning, and the common reply you'll actually hear back.
Audio previews use placeholder TTS — final clips will be recorded by our native Khmer speakers. Use the voice picker below to switch which placeholder plays.
Built to make speaking the easy part.

Questions, answered.
When will KhmerBasics launch?
We're aiming for an open beta in the coming months. Waitlist members get early invites and help shape what we build first.
Is it really free?
Yes — you'll be able to start learning with KhmerBasics for free. A paid tier with extra content and features is planned for later, but the core experience stays accessible.
Do I need to know the Khmer script?
Not at all. Every phrase ships with friendly romanization alongside the Khmer script, so you can speak from day one and pick up the script over time if you'd like.
Who records the audio?
All audio is recorded by native Khmer speakers — one male and one female voice — using a clean studio setup. You'll choose your preferred voice in the app.
What makes this different from other apps?
KhmerBasics is audio-first, situation-based, and built around the back-and-forth of real conversation. You don't just learn what to say — you learn what people say back, and how to reply.
Will there be a mobile app?
Yes. We're launching on the web first so we can iterate quickly. iOS and Android apps are on the roadmap right after public launch.
Be the first to speak.
